t General Guidelines for YES-SSG-Teams™ and the Oklahoma Youth "TEAM" Championships June 27, 2015 Venue - TBA
The purpose of the "Youth T&F "TEAM" Championships" is to enable school track coaches and P.E. Teachers to extend the Track & Field season for their students into the first part of the "summer break" - - - - in an atmosphere that provides FUN competition in Track & Field; and, - in an atmosphere that provides the opportunity for each student to develop (and improve) personal relationships with fellow T&F athletes both within their own school team, as well as within neighboring school teams - more specifically - within their own school CONFERENCES. YES- SSG-Teams™ --- developing school & conference PRIDE™ among Oklahoma Track & Field Athletes Team Pride - - - Conference Pride - - - It's a Win-WIN! _____________________________________________________________
How to organize a "YES-SSG-TEAM" for "Summer Track" - - -
If you are a P.E. Teacher or school track coach in Oklahoma, you are encouraged to organize a "Conference Team (club) " for "summer track".
We understand that the "school track season" can be very demanding. We also understand (due to a variety of conditions and situations) that the school track season for many athletes in Oklahoma can be very short. - - - For many athletes, especially the younger elementary and junior high school students, the school track season lasts only a few weeks - often in cold and windy conditions, not starting until after spring break, and ending with a conference meet in April.
Sooner State Games and Youth ENDURO Sports, Inc. (YES-Athletics) have teamed-up to provide a fun "summer track" competition for Elementary - Junior High - and High School students - that is FUN and AFFORDABLE. The YES-SSG T&F season does not start (officially) until the first weekend in June - and will end each year on the last Saturday in June.
Below you will find a general time-line that includes basic steps that can be used to help organize a summer track program for your conference athletes:
- (March 2015) contact other coaches within your school conference to determine the interest among fellow coaches, athletes and parents. If the coaching interest is available, organize a team for each of the 2015 "Competition Divisions" --- Elementary School, Junior High & High School. NOTE: Each "Conference Team" can have a separate "Division Team" (for each "Competition Division"), within their summer program. It is suggested that each "Division Team" compete using the same "Team" name - for example: "Team Big 8". NOTE: Each summer track program can use either the word "Team" or "Club" in its name. It is preferred that the word "Team" be used if more than 50% of the athletes are from the same Conference. - (March 2015) contact your athletic director to determine if your school district can provide liability insurance for your summer Conference Team. If not, you can obtain the necessary coverage as part of YES-Athletics™. (The cost is $10 per year for each YES-Athletics™ Individual membership.) - (April 2015) hand out an Information Flyer (for athletes and their parents) at the Junior High and High School Conference Championships. - (May 2015) submit a request for a YES-Roster™ account for on-line entries. Your YES-Roster™ account is not the same as the account that you use for school meets. You can submit a request for a YES-Roster™ account by going to the main ENDURO Entries webpage - - - click on the YES-Athletics tab (at the top of the main window), and follow to steps to request a YES-Roster™ account. - (May 2015) hold at least one parent meeting at a location that the parents of each athlete that plans to participate in the summer "conference" track program can attend. - (May 2015) make sure the Parent Authorization is complete for each student that is going to participate in your summer track program. (The Parent Authorization process can be completed on-line through your Team's YES-Roster™ account.) - (June 2015) begin attending and/or hosting "Qualifying" meets. - - - Qualifying meets are easy to host. Timing is not required. The only qualifying requirement at each meet is PLACE. (Top Two) Awards are not provided. --- Our goal is to keep Qualifying meets simple and fun. - - - Each "Qualifying" meet should last only a few hours.
Following are the general guidelines for competition: Each athlete can compete in an unlimited number of "Qualifying" meets. Each athlete that competes must be entered ON-LINE by an adult through his/her team's or club's YES-Roster™ account. "Unattached" participants will not be allowed at the "Qualifying" meets, or at the "YES - SSG Youth T&F TEAM Championships. The top two in each Competition Division in each event at Qualifying meets are invited to compete in the Championship meet. There will be no awards offered at the Qualifying meets. The Qualifying meets are free unless liability coverage for the meet is provided by YES-Athletics™ / Sooner State Games. If coverage for the meet is provided by YES-SSG, an entry fee of up to $2 may be charged for each athlete that participates to cover the costs of liability insurance. National High School Federation rules apply unless superseded by local YES-Athletics™ rules. An example of NHSF rules that are superseded are the rules that apply to uniforms. For YES-Athletics™ championship competition, the tops and bottoms of the uniform worn by a team/club must be of the same general color for all team/club members. Jewelry is allowed unless it poses a safety issue for a competitor. Sun glasses are also allowed. Shoes and spikes must conform to the facility requirements. Each athlete may compete in an unlimited number of events at Qualifying meets. Each athlete may compete in no more than two individual events and two relays at the "YES - SSG Youth T&F TEAM Championships". Each Team/Club may enter an unlimited number of relay teams at the TEAM Championship meet. However, each athlete that competes on a relay team in the TEAM Championship meet must qualify to do so by competing on a relay team in that event at a Qualifying meet that finished first or second at the Qualifying meet. In other words - - - - - - if an athlete did not run on a relay team in a Qualifying meet that finished 1st or 2nd, that athlete is not eligible to run on a relay team in the Championship meet. (It's the individual that qualifies - not the team.) Relay Divisions are the same as the Competition Divisions for team scores. "Competition Divisions" for Youth Team Scores at the Championship meet: - Elementary School - - - Grades 1 - 6 - Middle School/Junior High - - - - Grades 7 - 9 - High School - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Grades 10 - 12 Youth "Competition Divisions" for Awards at the "Championship" meet: - 1st Grade - 2nd Grade - 3rd Grade - 4th Grade - 5th Grade - 6th Grade - 7th Grade - 8th Grade - 9th -10th Grade - 11th - 12th Grade
